Changes to this Privacy Policy are discussed at the end of this document. Each time you use the Website, however, the current version of this Privacy Policy will apply. Accordingly, each time you use the Website you should check the date of this Privacy Policy (which appears at the beginning of this document) and review any changes since the last time you used the Website.

We keep order information (which does not include credit card information, which may be stored by our payment processors) as long as reasonably required to provide our Services and serve purchased products to the respective customers, to comply with the law, or until you ask us to remove it.

  • Information from discussions on forums and comment threads.Any information that you disclose in these locations becomes publicly available and may be recorded, archived, and republished by anyone. We keep this information as long as you continue to consent to keep this information published.

  • Information from third-party sources. We may receive information about you from publicly and commercially available sources (as permitted by law), which we may combine with other information we receive from or about you. We also may receive information about you from third-party social networking services when you choose to connect with those services. We may notify you when we receive information about you from them and the purposes for which we intend to use that information.

  • Other information. You may choose to provide us with information when you contact us (by email, for example), respond to surveys, fill in forms, or use other features of our Services. We may keep a record of that information and/or correspondence. We keep this information for as long as reasonably required. We ask that you do not send us private, sensitive, or confidential information, and you agree that if you do so, it will be at your own risk.

Source code repositories.

As an open source software development community, Cyclop produces a large quantity of source code, which we store in Source Code Management systems known as Git and Subversion. These systems store our code and the changes to it in records known as commits, which include the change to the code, an annotation from the developer (commit message), the time and date of the change and the identity of the person making the change. For Git, the identity information is stored in the form of the name and email address, both of the person committing the change to the repository, as well as the person who authored the change originally where that is different. In the case of Subversion, this identity information is stored in the form of the username assigned to you when you were granted a Cyclop Developer account.

As part of the process of entering commits into our repositories, various actions may be automatically taken. This includes sending of emails concerning the commits to public mailing lists (which are archived by third parties) as well as directly to individuals named in the commits or who have otherwise registered their interest with us in regard to certain forms of changes taking place in our repositories.

By entering commits into our repositories you acknowledge that the information contained in them will form part of the public record of open source development activity undertaken by the Cyclop Community, and that these records constitute part of the historical record of our community. As a consequence of them being historical records, it is not possible to rectify them once they have been entered into our repositories as this would constitute a modification of the historical record, which is also prevented by cryptographic security mechanisms built in to both Git and Subversion. Further, as computer source code is a creation in which intellectual property rights (copyright) are held by the author, removal of those records is not possible as we are legally required to keep records on who was responsible for authoring changes in the code we hold.

Social Media.

We may use hyperlinks on the Website which will redirect you to a social network if you click on the respective link. However, when you click on a social plug-in, such as Facebook’s “Like” button, Twitter’s “tweet” button or the Google+, that particular social network’s plugin will be activated and your browser will directly connect to that provider’s servers. If you do not use these buttons, none of your data will be sent to the respective social network’s plugin provider. So for example, when you click on the Facebook’s “Like” button on the Website, Facebook will receive your IP address, the browser version and screen resolution, and the operating system of the device you have used to access the Website. Settings regarding privacy protection can be found on the websites of these social networks and are not within our control.

Cyclop Connect Privacy Policy.

Cyclop Connect requests the following permissions on Android, for the following reasons:

  • INTERNET: Even though we never connect through the internet (only through local network), Android requires this permission even for that.

  • STORAGE: To save received files and to read files to send.

  • CONTACTS: When you receive a phone call or SMS, Cyclop Connect looks up the caller/sender on your contact list to display the contact name instead of the number.

  • NOTIFICATIONS: For the notifications plugins to be able to forward the notifications to your desktop.

  • SMS: For the SMS plugin to forward SMS to your desktop and to be able to reply them.

  • BATTERY: For the battery plugin to report the battery on your desktop.

None of the information that Cyclop Connect can read ever leaves your phone unencrypted, and never ever reaches the internet at all. In the future, all these permissions will be made optional, so you can decide not to even allow Cyclop Connect to access some of this data. As of now, only the notifications permission is made optional.

Changes to this Privacy Policy.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. This policy is effective as of 2022-01-28
